Hey everyone!

A sign for the Studio

So the sign is ordered! I know, I know!  It has only taken be 2 1/2 years to get one.  What can I say?  I am officially here to stay!  Mom and Dad have asked me about it since May and I am finally getting one.

It should be installed the last week in February or the first week in March.   I found a great place in Dallas.  It is called Giant Signs.  After looking for over a year and getting $2000 to $5000 quotes from everyone (Just for the word ART) someone told be to call them. I am so happy I did.  Jose has been great!  I must have changed my mind about 20 times in 1 week.  He was awesome!  I can’t wait to actually see it up.  We will post a picture on Facebook.

I now have 5 assistance/teachers.  I can’t wait for you all to meet them.

Nicole has been with me for over a year.   She is starting her own business as well as teacher at The Vine.  More to come on that in the future.  I am so excited for her.  When you see her, you should ask her about it.

I was very lucky to find Trista during Christmas last year and I refuse to let her go no matter how many college classes she takes.  As some of you may know, she is a graphics design student.  She is incredibly talented and has created a few graphics for me along with all the painting she does for me.  If you are looking for someone to create business cards, brochures or anything else, let her know.

Samantha started assisting a few months ago.  She started off taking classes from me and was so good, I had to ask her to join my team.  She is a full-time college student and in addition to assisting my classes, she also teaches at Peer Bar.  What a way to work out.  If you want to get toned, join one of her classes.

Rick joined us at the beginning of this year.  When I got so busy, I immediately decided he would be a great addition to our team.   He is incredibly talented and not bad to look at either.  Sorry ladies, he is happily married.  Rick is studying to be an art teacher at UNT.  Psst..that is where I went to school!  He has recently discovered a love of print.  Ask him about it sometime.

The newest addition to our team is Chesney.  Her first day was last week.  She has a BFA in painting and is getting her certification in education.  In addition to teaching/assisting our adult classes, she will be taking over our kidz program in March.  I can’t wait to be able to sleep in on Saturdays!  Be looking for some of her art to be added to the calendar.

My staff is not complete without including my mom and dad.

Most of you have probably met dad at some point.  He even answers to dad from most people. even though his name is Ray.  He is a retired Marine and a retired teacher.  He gives great advise on your paintings, but he refuses to paint it for you. 🙂

Dad built all my new easels….55 in all.  The new ones are now tall enough and you can paint the bottom of the canvas without it getting stuck.  YEA!

Anyone and everyone has met mom, whether you know it or not.  She is the person directly responsible for me being able to open up Art in the Vine.  Mom, Rina, is the back bone behind this operation.  She helps come up with painting ideas, handles all the private events and fundraisers. she posts everything on Facebook and does almost all of the emails and special requests.  She makes sure I can do what I love and she kicks me in the pants when I start to get lazy.  What can I say?  She is my mom!

I love you guys!

Growing Pains

As some of you have probably noticed, my classes are getting bigger.  I bought 2 more tables, built a bigger stage and moved the door of the storage room around the corner.

Well, now it is time for a second bathroom.  What started as a question to my landlord, ended with a hole being drilled in the concrete (30 minutes before class and without my knowledge) and a stopped up toilet with a class of over 40 people.

I just want to say thanks to everyone that attended that class.  You were great sports.  I couldn’t have asked for a better class in that crazy situation!

There is way more to this story.  Ask me about it next time you are there.

Hopefully the bathroom will be finished this week and the door that got moved 3 months ago will get moved again. (Because the sink will not fit if we do not move it)

Life is nothing, if not interesting!

See you soon!
